Based on the true story of Yamada Tsuyoshi, an otaku whose life is jolted after meeting the woman of his dreams. Tsuyoshi fits every otaku stereotype: he's shy, lives like a hermit, hasn't dated a girl in his life, and buys loads upon loads of anime figurines and video games.

On a train bound from Akihabara, Tsuyoshi reluctantly intervenes when a perverted drunkard begins harassing the beautiful Aoyama Saori. Having no experience with females, Tsuyoshi enlists the help 2chan forum members on how to further impress Saori .

The movie version of Densha Otoko was released in Japan late 2005 and was shown off at a number of American movie theatres before its DVD release in the United States in 2006.
